Welcome to Wessmaps Housing Trust
Wessmaps Housing Trust is a charitable incorporated organisation set up to provide a bespoke housing and tenancy management service for vulnerable people with learning disabilities who might otherwise not be able to access a sustainable home or manage a tenancy alone. We are not like a traditional housing association with a stock of housing to fill, we start with the individual and look at what they would like and need before sourcing and acquiring the right property from the private rented sector. Wessmaps takes a tenancy directly with the landlord and provides the vulnerable person with personal housing related support and tenancy management needed to ensure that they are able to sustain their tenancy.
We work in conjunction with traditional care and support providers to provide the individual with an all round complete support service of housing and care, allowing them to live independently within the community.
Our philosophy is very much around a personalised, person centred approach, encouraging choice and decision making and then supporting people to make those choices sustainable. We fervidly believe that a secure home is the cornerstone for being able to fulfill potential and live independent lives and all our work centres around providing and promoting this.
